On August 28 and 29 The square at the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral will once again become an open-air concert hall , where opera and operetta masterpieces , Spanish zarzuela , Italian canzonets and popular film music .

The organizer of the Gala in Sofia is the opera prima Sonia Yoncheva and her company SY11 Events ( www.sy11events.com ) .

The first edition of the festival took place in 2021.

This year, Sonya Yoncheva is gathering an even more stellar cast - the legends of world opera Plácido Domingo , José Carreras and Vittorio Grigolo.

They will be visiting Bulgaria just a month before their participation in the grand concert at the Arena di Verona, in memory of Luciano Pavarotti, which will mark the 90th anniversary of his birth and 35 years since the creation of the great opera trio - "The Three Tenors" (Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras).

ITALIAN EVENING - with the participation of Sonya Yoncheva and the world-famous tenor Vittorio Grigolo , who is coming to Bulgaria for the first time.

There will be arias, songs and musical performances for orchestra from the operas Rigoletto, La Traviata, La Forza di Destino by Giuseppe Verdi, Tosca and Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini, from the films The Godfather (music by Nino Rota), The Mission and Magdalene (music by Ennio Morricone), songs dedicated to Frank Sinatra and Edith Piaf, duets of popular Italian songs - O sole mio, Quando, quando, quando and others.

THE GRAND FINALE - featuring Sonya Yoncheva and the great tenors José Carreras and Plácido Domingo

The second evening, which will bring together for the first time on one stage in Bulgaria the legends of world opera Placido Domingo and José Carreras , together with Sonya Yoncheva , will include arias, songs , duetsand musical performances for orchestra from the operas La Traviata and Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi, Carmen by Georges Bizet, The Villains (The Samodivas) by Giacomo Puccini, La Arlesiana by Francesco Chilea, Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák, André Chénier by Umberto Giordano, from the operettas The Merry Widow and The Land of Smiles by Franz Lehár, from the musicals West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and Man of La Mancha by Mitch Lee, from the film Breakfast at Tiffany's (music by Henry Mancini), as well as Je te veux by Erik Satie, Musica proibita by Stanislao Gastaldón, La tabernera del Puerto: No puede ser by Pablo Sorozábal, Passione by Nicola Valente, tangos to music by Juan de Dios Filiberto, Cielito Lindo (Mexican folk song).

The musical accompaniment of the 2 festival evenings is entrusted to the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by maestro Nayden Todorov.
