On Thursday, October 31, the Botanical Garden of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) in Sofia will once again shine with thousands of lights. For the second consecutive year, it will host a unique light show—a combination of lights, music, and art.
Lumina Park - Sofia is part of a series of parks in several European cities. The first one opened in Poznan, Poland, in 2021. Currently, there are 12 parks across Europe, each featuring about 200 installations.
This year's theme is "Around the World Journey." You’re invited to an extraordinary adventure under the starlit sky in the BAS Botanical Garden, where you’ll cross continents and take a ride on an airplane, train, bus, ship, and even a hot air balloon. Immerse yourself in the magical world of light, moving through 7 themed zones with over 200 light installations and 4 art pieces created by talented artists, spread across a 1.5 km path. The installations appeal to visitors of all ages, with many LED-based technologies as well as fiber optics, art light installations, and ambient lighting.
The "Around the World" journey begins in Europe with a tour of the continent's most beautiful cities by plane. A train will take you on an exciting African safari to experience the spirit of Africa among glowing deserts and exotic fauna. The next stop is Latin America, specifically tropical Mexico, where you can dance under the bright lights of traditional Mexican celebrations. From the bus window, you’ll enter the mystical world of distant China and its mysterious dragons. You'll be enchanted by the lights of the Northern Lights and the beauty of Arctic ice landscapes. Then, take a hot air balloon to India in the heart of Asia, where ancient temples lit with light await you—a symbol of one of the world's oldest cultures. The journey will end with a sea adventure aboard a ship gliding over the waves, where you'll discover the wonders of the underwater world, complete with coral reefs and sea creatures brought to life in the glow of light.
