Sofia is becoming an increasingly attractive destination, not only for its historical landmarks and rich cultural scene but also for its unique events, like the upcoming "Street of Hops 2024" festival. If you're a fan of craft beer and want to immerse yourself in the world of Bulgarian artisanal brews, this festival is for you. From September 27 to 29, in front of the NDK monument, you’ll have the chance to sample offerings from over 20 Bulgarian breweries and savor a variety of flavors. Located just a few minutes' walk from our comfortable apartments offered at sofiaapartments.net, the festival provides the perfect opportunity to combine culinary delights with a comfortable stay in the heart of Sofia.

From September 27 (Friday) to September 29 (Sunday), the "Street of Hops 2024" Bulgarian craft beer festival will take place in the park in front of the NDK monument.

For the second year in a row, the initiative from Cooperatia Hrankoop - Sofia will bring together 20 of the best Bulgarian craft breweries in one place. They will showcase a wide variety of craft beer styles, ranging from light and fruity to dark and rich, made using special recipes with either traditional methods or innovative technologies. Behind the booths, you'll find the brewers themselves, eager to share their experience and tell you the story behind each beer.

The craft beer movement started in the 1970s in small independent breweries in the United States as an attempt to oppose mass production by focusing on quality and flavor diversity. The word "craft" comes from the English word for "handicraft." Craftsmanship is at the heart of this type of beer – handmade, with attention to detail, and the desire to create something new and different. In Bulgaria, it has gained popularity over the past decade.

In addition to craft beer, visitors will also be able to try a variety of craft food temptations – BBQ, burgers, pizza and pasta, Tex-Mex cuisine, as well as natural farm products (honey, dairy and meat products, herbs and herbal tinctures, hot peppers, baked pumpkin and desserts, dried plums and fruit paste, ice cream and pastries, sourdough bread and baked goods, coffee, cocoa, wine, and cherry brandy) from the network of producers with Cooperatia Hrankoop - Sofia.

Over 50 small Bulgarian producers, artisans, chefs, and organizations with a cause will participate in the event. There will also be a specially designated art zone with artisanal knits, jewelry, paintings, wooden and leather accessories, souvenirs with traditional Bulgarian embroidery, natural Bulgarian cosmetics, beeswax wraps, board games, and more.

During the three days of the "Street of Hops 2024" festival, in the park in front of the NDK monument (just a few minutes’ walk from our apartments), there will be a diverse program with live music and DJ parties, beer-making demonstrations, tasting games, traditional "trahana" cooking, as well as art workshops and fun games for the little ones.

September 27 (Friday) – 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM September 28 (Saturday) – 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM September 29 (Sunday) – 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Admission is FREE.

The organizers of the "Street of Hops 2024" festival are Cooperatia Hrankoop - Sofia and Kazan Artisan Brewery.
