GERMAN CHRISTMAS MARKET - DEUTSCHER WEIHNACHTSMARKT IN SOFIA

The German Christmas Market (Deutscher Weihnachtsmarkt) in Sofia is back to bring the magic of the festive season to the heart of the capital. The City Garden, in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, will transform into a cozy Christmas village, offering visitors traditional German specialties, handcrafted souvenirs, and a rich cultural program. Expect unforgettable moments, a warm atmosphere, and support for charitable causes.

From November 15 (Friday) to December 22 (Sunday), the Deutscher Weihnachtsmarkt will take place for the 14th consecutive year in the City Garden in Sofia (just a 4-5 - minute walk from our apartments). This is the oldest Christmas market in Bulgaria, first opening in 2011 with the idea of bringing the authentic atmosphere of German Christmas spirit and traditions.

This year, a mini Christmas village will once again be built, featuring beautifully decorated wooden stalls offering traditional German delicacies (sausages, fries, sweets), mulled wine with cinnamon and cloves, handcrafted souvenirs such as Christmas decorations, candles, and more.

The organizers have prepared a rich program with various events and surprises for young and old – children’s workshops, a photo booth, a stage with theatrical performances, Christmas concerts by kindergartens, schools, and charitable foundations, as well as musical evenings with popular Bulgarian pop and jazz performers.

Each year, the German Christmas Market supports a specific social cause by collecting donations and providing the stage and market grounds to charitable foundations.

The market is open daily from November 15 (Friday) to December 22 (Sunday), from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
