History and Traditions
The market is the oldest Christmas market in Bulgaria, celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2025.
It first opened in 2011 with the mission to bring the authentic atmosphere of German Christmas traditions to the heart of Sofia – a place of warmth, light, and festive joy.
Once again, the City Garden will be transformed into a mini Christmas village with beautifully decorated wooden chalets, offering:

traditional German specialties such as sausages, fries, and sweets,

fragrant mulled wine with cinnamon and cloves,
-
the famous flaming wine (Feuerzangenbowle),

anniversary glass mugs,
-
handcrafted souvenirs – Christmas ornaments, candles, and other festive items.
Program and Events
The organizers, DB Events, have prepared a rich cultural program for children and adults.
Visitors will enjoy:

Christmas concerts by schools, kindergartens, and charity organizations,

live music evenings featuring popular Bulgarian pop and jazz performers.
Each year, the German Christmas Market supports a social cause, donating part of its space and stage to charity foundations and humanitarian projects.
In 2025, visitors will also be able to purchase digital gift vouchers for the market through Re:benefit, allowing them to share the holiday spirit with friends and loved ones.
